BMW: Beeld Muziek Woord

zaterdag 22 oktober om 19:30 - 23 oktober om 1:30

Locatie

Vlevy Destelbergenstraat 64 Sint-Amandsberg, Belgium
:
Achterliggend idee:

His poetry is marked by a sense of retreat within the masses, a subtle sense for city life, and a yearning to get people to become closer with one another - basically, the most fundamental aspect of language.

Music

Temple Music (UK)
Language of Light (US)
S.Q.E. (US)
Circle Bros (Be)
brunk (Be)
sarkazyn (Be)

--------------------------------------------------------------

The Temple Music project started in 1995 as an offshoot of the English dark folk band ORCHIS. Although coming out of the avant-folk scene now burgeoning in the USA, Temple Music also have roots in the European ritual/ magical trance states ambient/drone music of such disparate acts as Hybryds, Mirror and Coil, entwined with an interest in ancient Greek modal music, krautrock and psychedelic music. http://www.youtube.com/user/kosmischeboy#p/u/4/EgS_WKARuCc

S.Q.E.: Not exactly influenced by music as much as i am by life and the images i see everyday.Doing roughly 90% of the production, S.Q.E. is where i take my time, and hand craft the work that i put out. Every idea is an experiment,I am a bass player by nature, have been sampling and processing for the sake of imagery and effect for years now, and recently have incorporated guitar and various keys for song-writing.The approach and reasoning behind the music may change but the moods usually range from dark to melancholy, to supernatural to just plain fucked. From beats to drones, dub rhythms to neo-classical harmonies, and minimalism to harsh noise http://www.youtube.com/user/kosmischeboy#p/u/7/COtnV5S6RO8

--------------------------------------------------------------

Language of Light’s music combines the ambience of Inalonelyplace with the experiments of The Gray Field Recordings in what has been described as “elegant gossamer drone” (Ptolemaic Terrascope) and “ethereal strands of guitar, male/female vocals, violin, and intangible electronic swelling” (Blastitude).

They released their first album, Inside the Head of a Butterfly Dreaming of Being a Giant Moth Destroying Tokyo, in 2008 on AntiClock Records. The day after releasing their first album they flew to Nashville, TN to open for the psych-folk artist Koonda Holla and well known noise experimenter / performance artist Justice Yeldham (Lucas Abela). Soon after they went on to play several shows including the Terrastock Tea Party in Austin, TX. They’ve released a split with Crow Tongue (members of Stone Breath), described in The Wire as “an oddly measured swirl of violin and female vocals”. They also released a 12” split in 2009 with Scott Cortez of Lovesliescrushing, described in Brainwashed as “one of the best musical surprises this year”. It was then nominated for best album of the year in Brainwashed.

They’ve worked with such wonderful artists as Temple Music, Bryan Lewis Saunders, Ctephin and Mike Seed. They’re newest release is a collaboration with experimental folk artist Mike Seed (The Chasms) and a split with Stone Breath.

brunk is the solo-project of Bert Vanden Berghe. He has released several albums on various netlabels as WM Recordings, Dog Eared Records, amp-recs and Resting Bell.
His musical style varies a lot between albums, and ranges from instrumental pop & lo-fi to more experimental ambient/drone, avant garde & noise - always with strong DIY ethics. Improvisation plays a large role in everything he does, as starting point of most of his recordings, or in his loose and rather unpredictable live approach.
Most of brunk's albums are available as free download (& on CD-R) from his bandcamp page:

Circle Bros is the project of Wim Lecluyse, the man behind Morc records. Just as with Morc records, Circle Bros doesn’t focus on quantity - this is the first Circle Bros full length album since late 2001.The past few years, there was an occasional ep here and there (incl. the recent ep on the alphabet-series of the Bluesanct-spin-off Orphanology) and a bunch of collaborations, most notably with Karina ESP and Drekka.Partially thanks to these collabs, Circle Bros shifted from a pure ambient-esque project to a more song-orientedunit. Equally important for this slightly different sound is that Influences that were reserved for other projects, now merged into circle bros as well. But after 10 years, there’s definitely something like a ‘morc-sound’ - hazy, hushed folk-melodies mixed with distorted ambient. Not surprisingly, Circle Bros takes elements from all of this.

Sarkazyn, is the work of Steven Sarrazyn a classically schooled
musician, painter and an interior designer. Recently he started
specializing himself in accordion noise, producing daring dastardly
drones destined to bring the listener into a trance.
